Dr. Joel Harrison rejoined HESL in July of 2022. Joel has 10 years of experience working as an aquatic scientist in environmental consulting, academia, and at a conservation authority. His areas of expertise are phytoplankton ecology, harmful algal blooms, the use of high-frequency environmental sensors, data analysis & visualization, statistical programming in R, and the monitoring and management of lakes, rivers, and their drainage basins.

Outside of work, Joel enjoys cooking, sailing, fishing, and foraging for wild mushrooms.
